The Haitian people suffered daily violations of their fundamental human rights. It becomes imperative for us today, to train our members on issues relating to human rights and the meaning of past events that led Haiti, the mother of the abolition of modern slavery, to its independence. The theme of the workshop of the day: It is in unity that the Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines gave us our freedom; it is in this spirit that we are able to move towards a more coherent reconstruction and modernization of Haiti. The event takes place Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 10hrs Am to 7hrs pm on the campus of Nova Southeastern University, located at 1750 NE 167th Street, North Miami Beach, remembrance and recognition of the death of the Emperor Jean Jacques Dessalines.
